Gnome for Litestep by cormack Gnome for Litestep by cormack
October 16. 2006: New 'slim' Version released : [link]

I made this theme a long time ago now, and alot of people have requested it since i started using it.
Since it's more or less personalized for me, i never took the time to release it before now.

It's a pretty simpel theme without fancy features and modules,
all i wanted was an alternative GUI similar to Gnome.

The theme is made for 1280x1024 and _should_ work with all resolutions.

*Update, October 2006 :

Seems like someone liked my work alot.
Actually so much that he decided to delete the readme file with credits,
replace the author name with his own and release it as his own creation:
[link]

According to him he did not use my theme but was inspired by it.
Every single bit of code, all images, icons, folder structure and filenames are the same,
except for a few changes to the font and iconsizes in the popup menus.
Minor changes everyone can do by changing a couple of lines in the *.rc files, Most LS users know this.
He even expects other people to credit him for it if they release a mod:
[link]
and
[link]

Just a notice to be cautious when releasing Themes,
there's alot of people out there trying to take credit for your stuff.

Sorry guys, I am new to this.
How do I apply this theme to my windows XP.

I thought it was just pasting it into the windows Themes folder, but windows does not seem to pick it up.
( I ve already applied that uxpatcher)

This looks damn good, and it still works!

Only problem with this (I don't have it with Gnome Mini) is that I use 2 monitors and the Task Bar (with IM, Sound Settings, USB safe remove, Network, etc..) is in my other monitor where it should be on my primary monitor :S help lol

Hi, first off thanks for the great theme. :)

Secondly, I'm not sure if this is just me, but the splash screen actually loads a little after the desktop/taskbar does. Is their anyway to put the spalsh script before the desktop startup?

forget it, I just found it!
It's in the "theme.rc" file, there is :
"DeskIconsStartHidden false", replace false by true and reload the theme.

Hi, im using this style at 1600x1200 and everything looks good except that the maximised windows do not connect to the lower taskbar, there's about 5 pixels of transparancy in between..

any idea how I might tweak this?

Also, how can I customise the quicklaunch shortcuts and add/remove folder from the Applications menu ?

ATTENTION:
beware of this ripoff [link]

Clearly claiming it as his own
just look at his comment to another user using 'his' version

[link]

He's talking about giving credit, and the only thing i see deleted from his rerelease of my work is the readme file with credits i have given....nice huh.

The only thing this dude changed is font and icon size...NOTHING else.

General note, customize and release my script all you want, but at least release something different and keep the credits already given in the mod.

The other thing is just a bitch move.

simple question: how did you change the folder thumbnail "background" from a normal folder to a CD case? is it a simple case of changing some file or are you using an explorer replacement?

Nice theme, but how do you make it so the file browser and such are skinned as well?

:iconindustrialpope:

there are several options: you can change the icons with some icon replacement program like iphile ([link]), change the explorer bar with some other skinning software like y'z toolbar ([link]) and you're halfway there. I don't know how he changed his folder "background".
the other option is an explorer replacement, instead of the standard windows explorer he's using a custom file explorer.

~cormak,

Outststanding ! One problem. I have tried different things but can't make the program menu scroll through all of the programs listed, or maybe theres a way to keep it from scrolling. I would be happy either way. scrolling or not ;) Actually, the menu in the popup should scroll through as many programs as are listed. Please help me with this.

thanks a bunch

I have this same problem, you can kinda hack it to work. open up Theme.rc and find "xpopupMaxHeight " and change the number to a higher number :)

you could most of the icns are in the icon folder so you ccan replace them.

The visual style is a mod of smoothgnome and clearlooks, i'm working on a release if i get permission and such.
